Mac Jackman’s journey with Farmers Lab Seeds is grounded in a deep-rooted connection to agriculture. Born in New Zealand, and later raised on the West Coast of Canada, Mac’s earliest memories are steeped in agricultural experiences. At seven, his family’s move to New Zealand introduced him to organic farming practices. His parents, inspired by the sixties’ ethos, embraced organic farming, cultivating a range of market vegetables and grains on 10 acres of leased land.
Returning to Canada after six years, Mac spent two decades immersed in British Columbia’s commercial vegetable market. These formative years laid a strong foundation for his deep understanding of agricultural practices.
Around age 22, Mac’s interest in cannabis cultivation began. Despite the legal limitations of the time, he pursued this interest as a hobby while navigating university life.
After university, Mac entered the holistic medicine sales industry. His job involved distributing naturopathic remedies across Western Canada. Throughout this period, his passion for cannabis, especially its medicinal and mental health benefits, remained a strong focus.
Mac also observed the pharmaceutical industry’s influence on the licensing and distribution of natural medicines, including cannabis. He noted the shift in public perception from seeing cannabis as a “gateway drug” to recognizing its beneficial properties.
Over the last decade, Mac witnessed significant changes in societal attitudes towards cannabis. As acceptance grew, the Canadian government's stance softened, allowing safer access to cannabis products.
During these changing times, Mac maintained his cultivation skills, staying up-to-date with the latest trends and community discussions in cannabis cultivation.
In 2016, recognizing the legalization of cannabis in Canada, Mac launched Farmerslabseeds.com. This platform was born out of his desire to provide quality cannabis seeds, backed by his 30 years of industry experience and relationships.
