Plenty of people use medical marijuana to treat a variety of different ailments, and celebrities are no exception.  One such celebrity is perhaps the best-loved captain of Star Trek: Patrick Stewart.   In a recent interview, he revealed that he uses cannabis to treat age-related symptoms.

During the interview, he was asked about whether his upcoming role as a frail professor in the movie Logan is helping him confront the fact of aging.  The seventy-six year old said aging is definitely something on his mind a lot:

“I think about it every day.  Not all the time.  I’m not brooding on it, but I’ve come to a point where the numbers are against you.  You get to an age where you go to the doctor, you tell him how old you are, and he just shrugs his shoulders and says: ‘Oh, is that it?’.”

He says the biggest problem he faces is with his hands that don’t work very well.  However, he has found something that seems to help: cannabis.  He lives in California, and he says that, thanks to the new law, he can use a spray that goes directly on his hands.

Stewart is one of the many reminders of how important it is to be investing in research and development for cannabis as a medical product.  The natural plant seems to have many qualities that treat many conditions, and the more we know about it, the more we can be using it to help people like Patrick Stewart.”
